P5.6 M disaster funds unused in Davao Norte

may 12, 2014

The executive department of the provincial government of Davao del Norte has asked for legislative approval for the more than P5 million un-expended disaster funds for capital outlay in the last two years.

Provincial budget officer Norma Lumain asked Monday the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to declare as savings the various unused capital outlay funds totaling P5.6 million of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) office.

But the savings would be flowed back for the construction of the provincial disaster preparedness training center, she said.
The un-expended funds in calendar years 2012 and 2013 were supposed to be used for purchase of technical and scientific equipment and communication equipment.
The funds sought to become savings with the 2014 capital outlay covered the Supplemental Budget No. 1, which is still subject for approval by the legislative body.(Rural Urban News/Cha Monforte)
