aug 22-28, 2013

Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon did not mince words in saying he would “be making drastic action” to City Hall employees found out to be making corruption.

In an interview with the Valley & City Chronicle, he said that he has been working in the City Hall for 19 years already and with this he knows the workings of offices.

He added, “may opisina nga may corruption.” He did not elaborate even as he stressed his policy of having City Hall employees humane, courteous and not abusive to the transacting public.

“Na bad shot na ang word nga CSU (Civil Security Unit), so I’m changing it to SMO for Security Management Officer,” the mayor said recalling the abusive conduct of some CSU personnel before.

He said he is now working out to provide the new and the retained SMOs with two new sets of uniforms and more incentives and allowances as he wants them to be always courteous and not abusive to the public.

The mayor also bared he effected a “total revamp” of the Bids and Awards Committee as well as changes of heads of some offices like the budget office which is now headed by Fe Inutan, who would have to perform as full budget officer with representation and travelling allowance (RATA).

He said he did not “float” city budget officer IV Dean Briz, a known protege of former Mayor Rey Uy. “He is detailed in the mayor’s office as temporary transfer to do fiscal analysis, study taxation, para tutukan ni because one of my priorities is affordability of taxes.”

Briz would be assisted by the also reassigned chief of the economic enterprise office.
They were already directed to submit a list of all the tax dues and tax receipts in the last 5-10 years for study purposes.

Meanwhile, Gigi Abella is the city tourism officer.

The mayor also effected recall to originating offices of less than key personnel who were reassigned before.
The City Investment and Planning Office would also be strengthened with bigger budget “as it is the umbrella of all investment promotion activities for the city,” he added.

Mayor Rellon also said that the good programs of the former Mayor Uy would continue as well as the festivals “because under my EAGLE WINGS Program is the mapadayonong kalamboan but with emphasis on positive change.” (Cha Monforte)
