Eyebrows of incumbent officials in Compostela Valley have been raised while others were reportedly “slighted” by the move of the administration presidential candidate Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr in forming a “parallel organization” that has now been campaigning for him in the barangays in an effort of boosting his sagging candidacy.
Officials of the province including Governor Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy, who is the only governor who sticks with Lakas-Kampi-CMD throughout Region XI, were reportedly “slighted” by the move of directly tapping barangay officials as campaign coordinators of Teodoro without giving protocol of at least informing them, said a town mayor who talked on the condition on he not be named.
He said that what happened to his town when the still unnamed coordinator of Teodoro, specifically moving on the instruction of Lakas-Kampi-CMD regional stalwarts based in Davao City , was that the municipal coordinator, who is the poblacion barangay captain, is running as councilor under the Liberal Party. The mayor is reelectionist under the local Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
Also, he added, the municipal coordinator in Compostela town appointed by Teodoro’s coordinator happened to be poblacion barangay captain Willy Ang, who is the younger brother of Councilor Rodolfo Ang, the mayoralty standard bearer of Aksyon-Demokratiko running against Vice Mayor Jessie Bolo whose running mate is last-termer Mayor Reynaldo Castillo of the administration party.
The source said that they were really caught flat-footed by the move when the Teodoro’s campaign organization composed of barangay captains was formed two weeks ago.
He said that the organization is parallel to what the provincial Lakas-Kampi-CMD has been working out that also taps barangay captains as campaign coordinators.
He said that Teodoro’s coordinator had poured big amount of campaign money to the tapped municipal coordinators which as of press time he could not yet confirm as to the amount given.
It was also two weeks ago that Teodoro’s campaign tarpaulins flourished in the province. (Cha Monforte/Rural Urban News)
