Another mandate for Kapitana Fely Dalagan
PANABO CITY- She was allegedly so maligned in the last barangay polls but she won another barangay people’s mandate.
Victorious Sto. Nino barangay captain Fely Dalagan has heaved high sighs of relief in knowing that she managed to beat by a margin of over 500 votes a rival candidate who had allegedly made so much a killing of issues, money and tarpaulin posters during the last polls.
She did beat again a rival funded by a known and moneyed non-incumbent politician in the city.
“I thank so much the Lord for this new mandate. I thank so much the people for their continuing trust and confidence to the Serbisyong Totoo,” she said in an interview with the Valley & City Chronicle.
“They cooked up a lot of issues against me. My small-sized posters are always covered by their big-sized tarpaulin posters. They engaged in vote-buying. Their tarpaulins have covered all the posts in the school (where the voting was held),” Kapitana Fely added.
With that splurge of resources, she now fears that in the next barangay election P1 million is needed to become a punong barangay of Sto. Nino, the most central and most commercial among the eight barangays in the poblacion here.
“May pag ikapital ko na, pero wa man koy ana nga kwarta (I’ll better have it as capital in business though I don’t have that kind of money),” she said.
“Dugay na bitaw ko nailhan nga nag laray-laray sa una (I have been known to be vending for a long time in the market before),” she added.
“Serbisyong Totoo” has been Kapitana Fely’s battlecry since her first term starting in 2007 after beating a formidable rival of the same political group that strongly challenged her in the recent polls.
Kapitana Fely had been a barangay kagawad for 13 years since 1984 before she gunned for her current top post.
For her first term as mother of the barangay she completed and improved their barangay hall, and now fresh being elected she wants to have the Sto. Nino Elementary School transferred from its current location from Barangay San Francisco to their own barangay.
