This new governance keyword, public-private partnership is now showing its ugly face. Take the case of Davao del Norte. If the provincial government’s new partner, CISA, a private security firm , has the gall to snub the boardmembers, then we might woe for the day when other private partners would snub elected provincial legislators. If CISA guards are indeed strict to the transacting public then we might woe for a day when private partners would be widening the distance of the government and the governed. Is this the kind of public-private partnership that we want to reign in Davao del Norte? There’s PEOPLE program out there now, and the second P there is for Public-Private Partnership. The SP snubbing incident has already taken a toll to, for one, Boardmember Shirley Belen Aala who was so mad against the CISA branch manager.- Al Rosero
