Davao del Norte Boardmember Dr. Alfredo De Veyra (Tagum City, District 1) has been tapped by the Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process (OPAPP) led by Secretary Teresita Deles and the coordinating political institute of the administration’s Liberal Party for the re-establishment of Peace and Human Rights Action Teams in the province.
The boardmember said that he is now preparing suggestions and initial inputs to the OPAPP before the detailed action planning for the provinces would commence.
Boardmember De Veyra is the chairman of the committee of the justice and human rights of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Under the administration of President Aquino III, OPAPP is presently engaged in preparatory talks with the communist and Moro rebels to end the longest-running insurgency in Asia and install lasting peace in Mindanao and throughout the country.
OPAPP is the lead agency of the government’s “Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA)” flagship program for peace-building, reconstruction and development in conflict-affected areas, which would reach Davao del Norte. (Rural Urban News/Cha Monforte)
