“I consulted before I joined the Liberal Party” – Cong. Maricar

Oct 21-27, 2010

In a news report of DXDN Radyo Ukay Tagum Tuesday, Compostela Valley District 1 Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Apsay has clarified that her earlier joining of the Liberal Party was made after making consultations with the majority of mayors and with Governor Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy and “it was (their) collective sentiment for me to go ahead.”

Earlier, the congresswoman was reported to have pledged as  new LP member in Malacanang last June 30, day when President Benigno Aquino III was sworn in as the new President of the country.

In a press conference after her report for her first 100 days in office held last Monday at her newly refurbished congressional office in Compostela town, she bared that sooner majority of Comval mayors including the governor would take oath as members of the administration’s Liberal Party pending the “go signal from the (LP) national headquarters.”

In her “100 days Report” before the province’s officials, national government representatives, sectoral and political leaders, the congresswoman said that she has filed several bills which are already being acted by various House commitees that include the proposed three acts establishing a public state college, additional two Regional Trial Courts and a Land Transportation Office in the province, and another measure declaring a portion of Mt. Tagub-Kampalili Ranges in Maragusan as protected landscape area.

She said that she managed to be a member of nine House committees and the senior vice chairman of the workers’ affairs commitee.

She added she is presently preoccupied with the endeavors to her pet oplan kalusugan and oplan kasaynayan for the needy people in her congressional district.

Cong. Apsay’s report was well received and applauded.

Meanwhile, Monkayo Mayor Manuel “Junjun” Brillantes Jr and Pantukan Mayor JC Celso “Tok” Sarenas said in separate interviews with the Valley & City Chronicle that they would no longer be transferring party from Lakas-Kampi-CMD. (Rural Urban News/Cha Monforte)
